Long a host to professional tournaments on the JPGA Tour, Otaru Country Club presented specific challenges during the preparation of its master plan.  Foremost, we felt that the golf course had to be playable and enjoyable for the members and guests.  Yet on occasion, the golf course had to test the skills of the best professional players so that it remained a viable tournament venue.

We accomplished this through careful placement of tees and bunkers requiring more difficult carries and sharper angles from the tournament tees than from the middle and forward tees.  All of the greens were redesigned with our attention on creating a variety of hole locations so that the difficulty or ease of the golf course can be adjusted to accordingly.  Players of all skill levels have responded with enthusiasm to the renovated golf course and it still holds a spot on the JPGA tour.
